How to Play

Play Mahjong Connect online for free. This is a 12-stage timed Mahjong Connect game where players must clear each level of tiles by selecting identical stones that can be connected by a line that does not pass through any other stones and turns no more than twice. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the Play button near the bottom of the welcome screen to start the game.
Near the Play button are buttons for how to play Help, High Scores, and More Games.
The lower left corner of the welcome screen has a language select dropdown.
The lower right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for sharing the game on social media and reading game developer information.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Use your mouse left click button to select a stone & then select an identical matching stone which you can connect using a line that does not pass through other stones and does not turn at 90 degrees more than twice.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap the screen with a finger to select stones.
    - Controls & indicators
      - The upper left corner has buttons to pause the game and switch to full screen mode.
      - Across the top center the game shows your level number, cumulative game score, and remaining time to beat the current level.
      - The upper right corner has buttons to request hints or shuffle tiles.
      - The lower left corner has a sound control button.
      - The lower right corner has a music control button.

        Stone matching
        Identical matches
        In this game you can only match identical stones.
        Line drawing
        When you select two identical stones the game will automatically draw a line connecting them provided:
        the line does not pass through any other stones
        the line is straight, or turns at 90 degrees no more than twice
        Overlapping stones
        In this game it looks as though the stones in the lower column are on top of the stones in the column above them.
        The overlap is a bit of an optical illusion, as each stone is on its own row and column. No stone has any stones on top of it.
        Levels
        This game has 12 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
        You can’t replay previously beat levels without starting the game from the beginning.
        All stages have an 8 by 16 grid with 128 stones or 64 stone pairs.
        Levels fill stones in different directions.
        first level: fills down
        second level: does not fill
        third level: top half fills upward & bottom half fills downward
        fourth level: left half fills left & right half fills right
        fifth level: fills right
        Each level has a shorter time limit than the level prior.
        The first level gives you 4:20 to complete it.
        Each subsequent level gives you a 20 second shorter time limit.
        You beat a level by clearing all stones before the timer runs out.
        Each time you make a match it adds 4 seconds to your remaining time.
        You fail a level if the timer reaches zero.
        At that point you can either try the current level again, or end the game and submit your score.
        If you end the game it erases your gameplay data.
        If no valid matches remain on the board the tiles will automatically shuffle.
        Conversely this means that if there is always at least one valid match available.
        Scoring
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        Scoring points
        Each stone pair you make is worth 50 points.
        Each second you have remaining when you beat a level is worth 10 points.
        Spending points
        Taking a hint costs 200 points.
        Shuffling tiles costs 200 points.
        You start the level with 6 credits for each.
        Each time you beat a level it will restore up to 1 credit for each type of assistance, to a maximum of 6.
        If you use many assistance aids and lose a level then when you restart that level you will retain the number of credits you had going into that level.
        Strategy
        Try to work matches perpendicular to the fill direction on the far side of the fill first to help open up the field.
        The corner pieces are the easiest to match since they can be matched in either direction.
        If you get stuck use a shuffle to help mix up the board. Try not to use more than 2 shuffles on any board unless it is the final one so you keep your shuffles near full inventory toward the end of the game.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like traditional Mahjong Connect tile match games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
